Somewhere in Amager was a race……at overvinde sig selv er vigtigere end at vinde

Some races are measured in seconds. Others are measured in courage. Yesterday on Amager, I had the privilege of photographing para-athletes competing with determination, heart, and unforgettable spirit. What stood out was not only the competition itself, but the atmosphere surrounding it — the smiles before the start, the encouragement between athletes, the quiet focus, and the joy of simply being there together. These athletes remind us that sport is far more than winning. It is about perseverance, community, and believing in yourself despite every obstacle. Behind every rider is a personal journey that most of us will never fully understand. Yet on the road, they become an inspiration for everyone watching.

As a photographer, moments like these are special. They are honest, emotional, and real. And through every image, one thing becomes clear: Strength comes in many forms.
